Lincoln Home National Historic Site, established in 1971 in Springfield, Illinois, preserves the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned — the modest Greek Revival house where he and Mary Todd Lincoln raised their family from 1844 until Lincoln’s departure for Washington in 1861 to assume the presidency. The surrounding four-block historic neighborhood has been carefully restored to its 1860s appearance, allowing visitors to walk the same brick sidewalks and tree-lined streets that Lincoln himself walked as a lawyer, neighbor, and father. It is here, in the quiet domesticity of Springfield, that the full humanity of America’s most revered president comes most vividly to life.

U.S. national parks are frequently referred to as America’s Best Idea. Other common nicknames highlighting their value include National Treasures, Jewels in the Crown and collectively as the Natural Heritage or Crown Jewels of the nation.

All "parks" are not the same, with over 25 different designations beyond just "National Park". These include National Monuments, Historic Sites, National Recreation Areas, National Lakeshores/Seashores, and National Preserves, focusing on natural preservation, historical preservation, and recreational water access. The titles included in our U.S. National ParkStamps™ Collection cover all of these designations.
