The Midnight Blue (Papilio zalmoxis) is a large swallowtail from the rainforests of west and central Africa. Its wings carry a soft, powdery blue-grey tone that distinguishes it from the more vivid blues found in Asian and South American species. It is one of the largest butterflies on the African continent, with a wingspan that can exceed five inches in mature specimens.
