The Purple Spotted Swallowtail (Graphium weiskei) is native to the highlands of Papua New Guinea, where it lives in montane forests at elevations above 1,500 meters. Its wings are marked with patches of purple, blue, and green on a dark background — an unusual combination among swallowtails. It was first described by German entomologist Otto Weiske in 1894, and the species bears his name in its scientific designation.
