Rajah Brooke's Birdwing (Trogonoptera brookiana) is Malaysia's national butterfly, named by naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace in honor of the first White Rajah of Sarawak. The male carries jet black wings marked with a row of iridescent emerald-green points and a vivid red head. Found in the rainforests of Borneo and the Malay Peninsula, it is a fully protected species under Malaysian law.
