Wrangell–St. Elias National Park, established in 1980 in southeastern Alaska, is the largest national park in the United States — at 13.2 million acres, larger than the entire country of Switzerland — a staggering wilderness of glaciers, volcanoes, and mountain ranges where four major ranges converge to create the greatest collection of peaks above 14,500 feet on the continent. The Bagley Icefield, one of the largest non-polar icefields in the world, feeds glaciers of extraordinary scale, including Nabesna Glacier, the world’s longest valley glacier. The historic Kennecott Mines, a National Historic Landmark within the park, tell the story of one of the richest copper deposits ever discovered.

U.S. national parks are frequently referred to as America’s Best Idea. Other common nicknames highlighting their value include National Treasures, Jewels in the Crown and collectively as the Natural Heritage or Crown Jewels of the nation.

All "parks" are not the same, with over 25 different designations beyond just "National Park". These include National Monuments, Historic Sites, National Recreation Areas, National Lakeshores/Seashores, and National Preserves, focusing on natural preservation, historical preservation, and recreational water access. The titles included in our U.S. National ParkStamps™ Collection cover all of these designations.
