The Luna Moth (Actias luna) is native to the forests of eastern North America and is one of the larger moths on the continent, with a wingspan reaching up to 4.5 inches. Its pale green wings and long hindwing tails are distinctive. As the official insect of several U.S. conservation campaigns, it has become a recognizable symbol of nocturnal biodiversity and is frequently featured in North American nature education.
