The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus) is one of the most widely distributed butterflies in eastern North America, ranging from the Gulf Coast to southern Canada. It is the state butterfly of six U.S. states, including Georgia, Virginia, and North Carolina. Its yellow and black striped wings are a familiar sight in gardens and woodland edges from early spring through late autumn.
