The American Robin (Turdus migratorius) is the state bird of Connecticut, Michigan, and Wisconsin, and one of the most widely distributed birds in North America — breeding from Alaska to Mexico and wintering across the southern United States and Central America. Often cited as a harbinger of spring, it is among the earliest migrants to return north each year. It is the most abundant bird in North America by some estimates, with a population exceeding 300 million individuals.
