Scarlet Tanager

$10.00
SKU: 50009

The Scarlet Tanager (Piranga olivacea) breeds in mature deciduous forests of eastern North America, from southern Canada to the Appalachians, and winters in the forests of northwestern South America. The breeding male — brilliant red with jet black wings — is considered one of the most visually striking birds on the continent, yet its preference for forest canopy makes it far less commonly seen than its coloring might suggest. It is a long-distance migrant, crossing the Gulf of Mexico twice each year.
